Congratulations!

This morning Graham got a phone call from his little sister, Alida, with some wonderful news. Her and her boyfriend, Jose, got engaged last night. Graham and I are so happy for the two of them. Congratulations guys! I know the two of you are going to be very happy together!

Today Braydon is one week old. In the past week he has been a busy little baby. The day after coming home from the hospital we took him out for the first time, of course it was just to the pediatrician's office. Even though he was born one day before 37 weeks he was still considered premature and because he was born a little premature he was a little jaundice. We had to take him to see the dr. for the 1st three days he was home to check his levels to make sure that his liver is functioning ok. After yesterdays appt. the dr. is sure that everything is just fine now. We also took him to have his pictures done when he was 5 days old. We did this with Reed because the hospital pics are horrible and expensive so we figured we would do it with Braydon too. Yesterday was Graham's last day at home before he had to go back to work so we figured we would go out and do something as a family. We took Reed to monkey joes to get some of his built up energy out. He went full speed for an hour and then crashed. Braydon still has his days and nights mixed up but hopefully he will get that corrected soon. Other than only getting a little bit of sleep at night I would say this past week has been pretty good. Of course I have to give Graham's mom, Frances, all the credit for that. She has been here since last thurs. and been helping out with everything. She has done a wonderful job keeping Reed entertained and not feel left out. She is leaving sat. to go back home and I don't know what I am going to do without her here but I know that with a little bit of time I'll be just fine.

Braydon Harrison Smith

Sorry that I did not post a follow up to the previous post but as every one has figured out by now the amnio came back positive because we now have a new addition to our family. I went into the hospital Wed. evening around 5:30 to get some medicine so I could be induced thurs. morning. I ended up going into labor on my own late wed. evening but unfortunatly never progressed enough and by thurs. evening at around 10 the dr. decided that the baby needed to be born to prevent anything bad happening. Braydon Harrison Smith was born via c-section at 10:41 on April 8th 2010. He weighed 8 lbs. 12 oz. and was 21 in. long. Reed meet his new baby brother the next day and was thrilled. I just hope he stays as excited when we bring him home and he realizes he is there to stay. So far I am still in the hospital but I should be getting released tomorrow around lunch time.

Ultrasound #3

This morning I had another ultrasound to see just how big Braydon is getting. The result was a surprise! The ultrasound revealed that the baby is approximately 8lbs. 13oz. I knew that he was big but I never suspected that big. When the dr. came into the room to discuss the results with us the first thing he said to us was "so you ready to have a baby this week". I knew that there was a chance of me getting induced but I never thought it would be this early. So the plan is that I go to the dr. tomorrow morning and have an amnio done to make sure that the babies lungs are fully developed. I will get the results back tomorrow afternoon and if they come back positive, which the dr. is pretty sure they will, I will be admitted to the hospital tomorrow evening and they will give me some medicine to get me ready for induction. Then on Thurs. morning they will actually induce me and then its just a waiting game. He will be born either thurs. or fri. So right now Graham and I are getting everything ready for the hospital and to be gone from the house for a couple of days. I will keep everybody updated while I am in the hospital since we have a laptop now. I will also try to post some pics as soon as I can after he is born.

Happy Easter

This morning Reed got up and came downstairs to discover that the Easter bunny had brought him a basket filled with goodies. After checking out all the stuff in his basket we found all the candy filled eggs that the easter bunny hid around the house. Then this afternoon we headed to my grandparents house to have dinner with my family. After dinner we had another easter egg hunt where Reed had a blast running around with his cousins.

Easter Egg Hunt

This morning we took Reed to the neighborhood easter egg hunt. He seemed to enjoy himself and was really loving the cookies that they were serving to all the little kids. You'll notice that in all the pictures he has a cookie in his hand.

36 weeks

Today I am officially 36 weeks which means if I go into labor they will let mother nature takes its course and not try to stop it. I am actually feeling pretty good other than the fact that my allergies are killing me. I would normally just take some zyrtec to clear this problem up but I am refusing to take anything that has the potential of drying me out because I don't want to have any complications with breast feeding this time. Tues. I go for my ultrasound and hopefully I will find out then when this baby will be born. I will let everyone know as soon as my appt. is over.
